2016 Week #13 Winners, Losers and the Point Spread.

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-8-36-44-am

Misery is a dish best served piping hot and with pita bread. Dip deep in to that misery to make sure you get the good stuff at the bottom. Yum.

Purdue @ Indiana – Indiana is a 21-point favorite and they win by 17 and do not cover. I had a feeling the Hoosiers would have to work for the win, and I was right. Indiana wins by two and does not cover. 1-0 / 50-46

Illinois @ Northwestern – Northwestern is favored by 16.5 but they in by 21 and cover. BINGO! Nailed it on this pick. Northwestern wins by 21 and covers. 2-0 / 51-46

Rutgers @ Maryland – Maryland is a 14-point favorite but they win by 10 and do not cover. Rutgers is predictable but maybe I didn’t give the Terps enough credit. Maryland wins by 18 and covers. 2-1 / 51-47

#3 Michigan @ #2 Ohio State – Ohio State is favored by 5-points but they win by 17 and cover. Okay, maybe I was a little optimistic about the Wolverines sucking and the Buckeyes being very good. Yes, both teams are very good. But oh how I hate Michigan and oh how happy I am for them to lose and hopefully fall out of the CFPs. This was a good game, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, what’s up with J.T. Barrett, he played like a scared freshman third-stringer put in after #1 and #2 went down? Ohio State wins by three in OT and doesn’t cover. 2-2 / 51-48

Michigan State @ #7 Penn State – Penn State is a 12-point favorite but they lose by one and do not cover. Ugh. It was a season to forget. Penn State wins by 33 and covers. 2-3 / 51-49

Minnesota @ #6 Wisconsin – Wisconsin is favored by 14-points and they win by 24 and cover. The Badgers are my favorite team in the B1G right now, I hope they shank the Lions in the B1G Championship, and I think they will. Wisconsin wins by 14 and pushes. 2-3 / 51-49

This was a long, painful season packed with frustration, injuries, disappointment, injuries, questions, injuries and failure. I’m so happy it’s finally over and I can get off of this terrible ride and begin the forgetting process. My picks were pretty lame as well as I finish the season 51-49, just two wins over .500. My goal of 60% still unreached. Maybe next year? Definitely next year.

Good luck to Penn State and Wisconsin in the B1G Championship Game. I’m taking the Badgers by 17, but don’t listen to me, I’m only half right.

No matter what, always remember to…

Go B1G!

2016 Week #13 Picks.

It’s been a hectic week and I haven’t done my picks, so I’m doing them now at 11:40am on Saturday morning. These will be short and, hopefully, sweet.

Oh yeah, Nebraska already played Iowa last night and Iowa shanked them. You Hawkeyes are an unpredictable lot.

Purdue @ Indiana – Noon on BTN. Both teams put up lots of yards nut not lots of points. The Hoosiers get it done though. Indiana is a 21-point favorite and they win by 17 and do not cover.

Illinois @ Northwestern – Noon on BTN. The Illini have a long way to go but it’s only year one for Lovie Smith, so let’s give him some time; he didn’t have much to work with. Northwestern’s season is a bit of a bell curve which leaves me scratching my head actually. Northwestern is favored by 16.5 but they in by 21 and cover.

Rutgers @ Maryland – Noon on ESPN-News. Battle of the newbies. I had hopes for the Terps this years, but alas, no. And the Knights are quite bad, like really bad. Maryland is a 14-point favorite but they win by 10 and do not cover.

#3 Michigan @ #2 Ohio State – Noon on ABC. The Game. I hope Urbz cramz another Buckeye win so far up Harbaough’s ass that his Woody Hayes glasses are knocked off his ridiculous Michigan-Man face. I hate Michigan. I hope they lose every game, every year for ever. Ohio State is favored by 5-points but they win by 17 and cover.

Michigan State @ #7 Penn State – 3:30pm on ESPN. This game will end what has been the worst season in oh so many years for the Spartans. A win here would mean nothing to most people, but it means a lot to me. I’m fine with the Lions, and if they win, so be it. But for the Spartans to end on a high note would be the best way to cap a terrible year, the ultimate cleansing win if you will. The Spartans seem to be at their best against better competition (see Michigan and Ohio State games), so I do believe they can do it. Penn State is a 12-point favorite but they lose by one and do not cover. Go GREEN!!!

Minnesota @ #6 Wisconsin – 3:30pm on BTN. The Gophers will play hard but the Badgers at Camp Randall will take care of biz. Wisconsin is favored by 14-points and they win by 24 and cover.

Well, that’s it. That’s a wrap for the 2016 regular season. Don’t the door hit you where the good Lord split you as far as I’m concerned. It will be interesting to see who Wisconsin plays in the B1G Championship Game. My money is on Ohio State as they will beat Michigan and MSU will beat Penn State. No matter what, always remember to…

Go B1G!

2016 Week #12 Winners, Losers and the Point Spread.

screen-shot-2016-11-20-at-6-41-32-am

Second to last week and everyone is fighting hard to beat rivals, get into a bowl, make the playoffs, etc. Got to love B1G football.  I’m straight up 44/44 and 50% coming in so let’s see how the cookie crumbles…

Buckeyes

#2 Ohio State @ Michigan State – Ohio State is a 21.5-point favorite but they lose by three in OT (Geigs!) and do not cover. Oh so many ifs. What if we MSU didn’t go for two? What if we ran the ball more? What if the play calling was less obvious in the second and third quarters? My pick was really close to what almost happened. Ohio State wins by one an does not cover. 1-0 / 45-44

Iowa @ Illinois – Iowa is a 9.5-point favorite but they lose by seven and don’t cover. Well shit, I can’t predict what the Hawkeyes will do week to week, they are so up and down. Apparently they were up this week and the Illini are pretty much butt sore. Iowa wins by 28 and certainly covers. 1-1 / 45-45

Maryland @ #18 Nebraska – Nebraska is favored by 13.5-points and they win by 17 and cover. The Terps seem to be fading after showing up in the middle of the season. And the Huskers are giving it their all and trying to make a name for themselves again. Nebraska wins by 21 and covers. 2-1 / 46-45

#7 Wisconsin @ Purdue – Wisconsin is favored by 28-points and they win by 38 and cover. Wow, he BMers put up 20 points against he Badgers, I didn’t see that coming. But still, it wasn’t enough. Wisconsin wins by 29 and just covers. 3-1 / 47-45

Indiana @ #3 Michigan – Michigan is a 24-point favorite but they win by 27 and cover. God how I hate Michigan. And they always do the opposite of what I predict so I picked them covering hoping that they would not only not cover, but that they would lose again. Half right. Michigan wins by 10 and does not cover. 3-2 / 47-46

Northwestern @ Minnesota – Northwestern is favored by 2.5-points but they lose by three and do not cover. This one was a tough pick but my gut told me the Gophers would be golden and win at home on a cold November evening. I was right. Northwestern loses by 17 and doesn’t over. 4-2 / 48-46

#8 Penn State @ Rutgers – Penn State is favored by 28-points and they win by 39 and cover. BINGO! Nailed this one. Nice work Lions, see you next week. Penn State wins by 39 and covers. 5-2 / 49-46

5-2 this week is much better than I’ve been doing. It doesn’t make up for a Michigan State loss, but it softens it ever so slightly.

Next week is the last week of the regular season and then it’s Indy, bowling, and finally, playoffs. That takes us through almost mid-January 2017, but for some of us (Spartans), next week is it for the year. Perpaps a blessing. I wish the best for all of the B1G squads with the exception of Michigan whom I loath. Get out there and win everyone but Michigan, and always remember to…

Go B1G!

B1G

2016 Week #12 Picks.

It’s the second to last week of the regular season and I’m straight up 44/44, or 50%. Oh well, let’s not cry over spilt milk.

Let’s baste this turkey…

#2 Ohio State @ Michigan State – Noon on ESPN. Seems like an advantage that the game is in East Lansing, but in the Urbz era the road team has won every time. Hmmm. Let’s break that trend, yeah. Ohio State is a 21.5-point favorite but they lose by three in OT (Geigs!) and do not cover. Go GREEN!!!

Iowa @ Illinois – Noon on BTN. You know that after beating Michigan (Thank you Hawkeyes, I love you), that Iowa will shit the bed and lose to Illinois, right? I’m not joking. Iowa is a 9.5-point favorite but they lose by seven and don’t cover.

Maryland @ #18 Nebraska – Noon on ESPN-News. The Terps can’t convert on third down, and that will doom any team. Neither of these teams are great but the Huskers are better and at home, it should be all Big Red. Don’t look for a blowout, but steady Huskers all day. Nebraska is favored by 13.5-points and they win by 17 and cover.

#7 Wisconsin @ Purdue – Noon on ABC. This is the primetime network noon game? Crazy. The Boilermakers can move the ball through the air, although they’re not as successful at putting it in the endzone. Their issue is going to be defense. The Badgers are going to pound the ball and the BMers will wear down and eventually fold. Wisconsin is favored by 28-points and they win by 38 and cover.

Indiana @ #3 Michigan – 3:30pm on ESPN. I hate Michigan. Now their starting QB is out, that’s great news. But damn that Peppers, why couldn’t he leave for the pros mid-season? I got my wish last week with the Hawkeyes, I just can’t imagine lightning striking twice in two weeks, but a boy can dream. Michigan is a 24-point favorite but they win by 27 and cover.

Northwestern @ Minnesota – 3:30pm on BTN. Wow, about anything damn thing could happen in this game. Being at home or on the road isn’t a great a plus or minus for either of these teams, so that doesn’t matter. The Wildcasts B1G wins are against teams with losing records, and the Gophers are 7-3. I think Minnie pulls out a close one. Northwestern is favored by 2.5-points but they lose by three and do not cover.

#8 Penn State @ Rutgers – 8:00pm on BTN. The Lions should romp all over the Knights, even in New Jersey. Nobody in New Jersey gives a shit about Rutgers football, so a home game, even at night, isn’t an advantage. Penn State is favored by 28-points and they win by 39 and cover.

Good luck everyone, especially MSU and Indiana.

Go B1G!

2016 Week #11 Winners, Losers and the Point Spread.

screen-shot-2016-11-13-at-5-53-48-am

We’re nearing the end of the season and team are looking to win divisions, or get bowl eligible if possible. For some, that ship has already sailed. But college football, and B1G football more specifically, is fun and every week is a joy to behold. My picks this week, well who really cares at this point. Let’s see how shit fell out…

Knights

Rutgers @ Michigan State – Michigan State is favored by 14-points and they win by 10 and do not cover. I’ve never been happier to get a pick wrong. The Spartans dominated the Knights and I enjoyed the heck out of it. Michigan State wins by 49 and easily covers. 0-1 / 41-42

#10 Penn State @ Indiana – Penn State is favored by 6.5-points but they win by 17 and cover. It took 24 fourth quarter points to make it happen but the Lions came away with the win on what was a back-and-forth game through three quarters. Penn State wins by 14 and covers. 1-1 / 42-42

Northwestern @ Purdue – Northwestern is a 13.5-point favorite and they win by 10 and do not cover. This was the classic tale of two halves and the Boilermakers where in it until halftime, and then it was all Cats. Northwestern wins by 28 and covers. 1-2 / 42-43

Illinois @ #7 Wisconsin – Wisconsin is favored by 26.5-points and they win by 32 and cover. The Badgers are steady-rolling and the Illini barely beat a struggling Spartan squad, so I felt pretty confident that Wiscy would roll. Wisconsin wins by 45 and easily covers. 2-2 / 43-43

#5 Ohio State @ Maryland – Ohio State is a 28.5-point favorite and they win by 42 and cover. The Bucks are peaking at the right time (bad new for us next week) and the Terps are fading as they are wont to do. I just smelled a blowout here. Ohio State wins by 59 and easily covers. 3-2 / 44-43

Minnesota @ #19 Nebraska – Nebraska is favored by 7-points but they win by 17 and cover. It’s tough to predict if the Huskers or Gophers will be good or lackluster on any given Saturday, and on this one, if appears the Huskers had just enough. Nebraska wins by seven and pushes. 3-2 / 44-43

#3 Michigan @ Iowa – Michigan is favored by 21.5-points and they win by 35 and cover. There are times when I’m happy to be wrong and this is one of them. You know I can not stand Michigan and I think Harbaugh is the Trump of B1G coaches; what a tool. As much as I wanted the Warbaughrines to lose, I was pretty confident that they would win and romp at that. I was wrong. There is a God. Michigan loses by one and does not cover. 3-3 / 44-44

This was a crazy day of football. MSU finally broke that horrible losing streak, that’s good news. Michigan finally saw and end to their horrible winning streak, that’s also good news. Oddly, there is a three-way tie at the top of the B1G and Penn State seems to be in the best position. Who would have thunk it. There are still two weeks to go so let’s not start screen-printing t-shirts just yet. But one thing we can do, we can always remember to…

Go B1G!

B1G

Michigan State 49, Rutgers 0; The Spartans are 3-7, 1-6 in the B1G.

screen-shot-2016-11-12-at-4-52-05-pm

So this is what a win feels like. It’s been so long I’d kind of forgotten. I’d forgotten how much fun it is watching football when your team plays well and dominates the entire game. I’m so damn happy that the losing streak is finally over. Nice shutout Spartans, I’m proud of you boys.

Some quick highlights and thoughts on the game…

  • Very happy to see a full house at Spartan Stadium. I predicted a poor turnout and I was wrong. Happy to be wrong. Spartans!
  • The line play was very, very much improved and it changed everything. The o-line enabled the running game and protected the QB to ignite the passing game. The d-line stopped the run and pressured the Knights on nearly every play. Kudos linemen, you boys deserve a big ole steak and some cold beers.
  • Tyler O’Connor played with a great sense of purpose going 10 of 15 for 141 yards and three TDs. No picks, no fumbles, no nothin’. Way more like Cousins and Cook, way less like Maxwell. Loved it.
  • LJ Scott, Madre London and Gerald Holmes all ran hard and got the first downs, extra yards after contact, second efforts, and yes, TDs that MSU needed. The Spartans ran for 277 yards on 50 carries with three TDs and no fumbles. So much fun.
  • The receiving corps was on-point as well, especially Josiah Price with with only three receptions for 13 yards, but two TDs. His non-TD catch was a first down, FYI. Nice to see Trishton Jackson make good with two catches for 67 yards and a TD, his first in college. RJ Shelton and Donnie Corley both did their parts and had some nice hauls as well. Dig it.
  • The defense was more Classic Michigan State than we have seen this year. More consistent. More fierce. They just got to the ball more quickly, tackled better and made few mistakes. The Spartans held the Knights to 40 yards passing and 109 yards rushing for a total of 149 yards of offense and no scores. And how about two picks too, one a beautiful pick-six. Slow clap!
  • Special teams were just fine too. Kickoffs were good. Punts were good. There were no FGs, so no worries there. And Geigs made all of his PATs. Cheers.

Nice win Spartans! Now you know what your are capable of. You can dominate. You can win. Yes, it was Rutgers who is the bottom feeder of the B1G, but you dominated them. I’m very happy with the play today.

Next up, Ohio State in East Lansing. The Spartans have beaten Urbz boys more than any other B1G squad and at home on a cold November afternoon, I think they could shock the world and do it again. I’m a believer. I’m not crazy, but I’ve seen crazier things happen. You’ve got to believe. You’ve got to want it more, and you’ve got to fight to get it.

Go GREEN!!!

untitled-2_2

2016 Week #11 Picks.

41 and 41 is straight up 50%. My goal of 60% is out of reach so we’ll just stop talking about that. New goal: Over 50%. Very do-able.

Let’s wango this tango…

Rutgers @ Michigan State – Noon on BTN. It’s going to be cold, under-attended and pointless, but it’s still Spartan football and I goddam love it. I know we’re running out of QBs, but please don’t burn deWeaver’s red-shirt on this lackluster season. The Spartans have the better stats, home field, and the better team, so I believe they break the losing streak and snag their first B1G win of the season. Michigan State is favored by 14-points and they win by 10 and do not cover. Go GREEN!!!

#10 Penn State @ Indiana – Noon on ABC / ESPN-2. These teams are trending in opposite directions. The Hoosiers just barely beat the Scarlet Knights while the Lions pounded the heck out of the Hawkeyes last week. Even on the road, I see Franklin’s boys taking care of business. Penn State is favored by 6.5-points but they win by 17 and cover.

Northwestern @ Purdue – Noon on BTN. The Cats are on a bit of a skid but they just got through the toughest part of their schedule. The Boilermakers are doing their best to be competitive and they do have a B1G win, which is nice. Northwestern is a 13.5-point favorite and they win by 10 and do not cover.

Illinois @ #7 Wisconsin – 3:30pm on ESPN-2. Coming off the win in East Lansing, the Illini will be shocked to face a credible defensive line and it will change everything. I worry that the Badgers could shut them out. Wisconsin is favored by 26.5-points and they win by 32 and cover.

#5 Ohio State @ Maryland – 3:30pm on ESPN. Urbz is clawing and scratching his way in to the final four, but it’s all going to come down to The Game. I don’t see him tripping up on his way unless it’s a big OOPS against MSU (Go GREEN!!!). The Terps really let me down last week against the Warbaughrines, and I will not forgive them for it. I’ll be picking against them for the remainder of the year. Ohio State is a 28.5-point favorite and they win by 42 and cover.

Minnesota @ #19 Nebraska – 7:30pm on BTN. Damn Huskers, you got embarrassed last week. I’m really shocked that you are still ranked. But no your back at home and maybe you can find some redemption against the Gophers. Speaking of, the Gophers are 7-2 but they have maybe the softest schedule in the B1G so don’t be fooled. I think the butt-hurt Cornhuskers make amends. Nebraska is favored by 7-points but they win by 17 and cover.

#3 Michigan @ Iowa – 8:00pm on ABC. I hate Michigan. I would love, love, LOVE for them to get embarrassed on primetime network TV against a mediocre Hawkeyes squad. Oh, how that would be sweet. But stop dreaming, that’s not happening. Even if we give Iowa three points for home field, they’re still going to get blown out. The Warbaughrines are really good and they are rolling with a full head of smarmy steam. God how I loath them. Michigan is favored by 21.5-points and they win by 35 and cover.

There you have it, a full B1G slate. Everyone plays. Every game is important, some more so than others. Anything can happen and maybe this is one of those crazy weeks? You never know. I’m looking at you Iowa, make it happen!

Go B1G!

B1G

Michigan State 27, Illinois 31; The Spartans are 2-7, 0-6 in the B1G.

screen-shot-2016-11-07-at-11-56-07-am

This season is just world-class terrible. It’s really got me down. I’ve been sick with some kind of super-cold since Thursday and losing to the Illini on Saturday just set me back and extended my suffering. I honestly feel like I am literally (really, literally) suffering this year. Woe is me.

1982. That was the last time MSU lost seven in a row on their way to a 2-9 season. This is the level of trrrrrble we are dealing with. This is a historically significant trrrrrble season. Embrace it.

But is my optimism, my spirit, my enthusiasm faltering? Hells no. I’m a Spartan goddamit, and I’ll fight for the only colors until the bitter end. I’m the mutherfucker that thinks we can still beat Ohio State. It will be classic, MSU will beat Ohio State, and then Ohio State will beat Michigan. Classic everybody loses scenario. Bet on it. Go GREEN!!!

Enough of my craziness, let’s recap briefly…

  • Ouch, everyone is getting hurt… who’s going to suit up next week?
  • Ouch, everyone is committing penalties… who’s going to shoot themselves in the foot next week?
  • The line play continues to be poor, and it’s not going to change at this point. MSU can’t compete with consistency up front on either side and therefore they face an uphill battle in every game.
  • We are legally no longer allowed to call this a Spartan Defense. The new and preferred term is Michigan State non-offense. Perhaps the staff got lax or maybe it’s a confluence of many factors but no matter how you analyze it, this is a problem.
  • The MSU non-defense had zero sacks, no picks, no fumble recoveries, nothing that would flip the script or shift momentum. They were able to keep both the passing and rushing yards fairly low at 140 and 164 respectively, but that doesn’t mean much when you can’t keep your opponent from scoring.
  • The Spartan offense was inconsistent, able to move the ball methodically for a time and then incapable of anything positive in the blink of an eye. I put in on the o-line, they could not consistently do the job up front.
  • O’Connor started at QB and had okay stats going 23-35 for 265 yards, but no TDs. It’s that last part: No TDs. Cousins could score. Cook could score. Something about O’Connor, he can’t score. He’s got all of the skills and tons of experience, but is apparently lacking the will to create a win. Terry was up and down with flashes of WTF and OMG in equal measure. That scrambling TD pass to RJ was sweet.
  • Gerald Holmes ran with fury. He fought hard for yards and kept churning until he was on the ground. He only rushed for 78 yards and a TD, but the effort was exceptional.
  • RJ Shelton put in a magnificent performance also with seven catches for 80 yards and a TD. There is a ton of fight and a will to win in this guy.
  • And Michael Geiger went four for four on FGs. Nice work Geigs, that’s how you do it.

Next up for the Spartans is the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers in East Lansing. I expect a poor crowd turnout and a very Junior Varsity level game. The Spartans should knock the living tar out of this Knights squad, but who knows this year. Then we wrap up the season with the Buckeyes at home the Nittany Lions on road. Bold statement: MSU wins two of these last three games.

Go GREEN!!!

2016 Week #10 Winners, Losers and the Point Spread.

screen-shot-2016-11-07-at-11-17-10-am

As I said in my picks post, I’m 39-36, so that’s not great. I was sick all weekend and still am today so that’s why I’m late recapping. I don’t feel well and I certainly don’t feel good about my picks.

Let Survey the damage shall we…

Michigan State @ Illinois – Michigan State is favored by 3.5-points but they win by 10 and cover. Worst. Season. Ever. Hey, Basketball starts this week! Michigan State loses by four and does not cover. 0-1 / 39-37

Indiana @ Rutgers – Indiana is favored by 14-points but they win by 17 and cover. My three teams that I believed were getting better all underperformed this weekend. The Hoosiers are one of them and the Terps and Wildcats are the others. Indiana wins by six and doesn’t cover. 0-2 / 39-38

#8 Wisconsin @ Northwestern – Wisconsin is favored by 7-points but they win by three and do not cover. It’s my fault for believing in the Cats. Wisconsin wins by 14 and covers. 0-3 / 39-39

Maryland @ #3 Michigan – Michigan is favored by 31-points but they win by 10 and do not cover. I hate Michigan. I think the Terps folded against a big brand school in the Big House on National TV. Where’s the chip Terps? You could have been heroes. Michigan wins by 56 and covers. 0-4 / 39-40

Purdue @ Minnesota – Minnesota is favored by 17-points but they win by 14 and don’t cover. The Boilermakers had the lead at the half, can you believe it. But then they folded up like a paper train set. There is a God. Minnesota wins by 13 and doesn’t cover. 1-4 / 40-40

Iowa @ #12 Penn State – Penn State is favored by 7.5-points but they win by 13 and cover. Alright, I’m starting to get a little traction now. I knew the Hawkeyes were hollowed out somehow after their epic run last year. Penn State wins by 27 and covers. 2-4 / 41-40

#10 Nebraska @ #6 Ohio State – Ohio State is favored by 17-points but they win by 16 and do not cover. The Huskers got absolutely corn-holed by the Bucknuts. I didn’t think the Buckeyes had the heart but I was very wrong. I didn’t factor in the Shoe. Ohio State wins by 59 and covers. 2-5 / 41-41

I’m sick and I feel terrible and now I’m staring at this dumpster fire of a week. There is a lot of sadness in the world and a sizable percentage is right here on my lonely blog. I still love the Spartans and I love the B1G, but when does the one set of footprints in the sand part start? I’m dyeing here!

Go B1G!

B1G

2016 Week #10 Picks.

Once again I’m coming in hot so I’m just going to get right to it. Also, I’m 39-36, so that’s not great.

Let rock this casbah…

Michigan State @ Illinois – Noon on ESPN-News. One this if for sure, one of these squads is going to have three wins come Saturday afternoon. I think it will be the Spartans if they can play at the level they did last week. Michigan State is favored by 3.5-points but they win by 10 and cover. Go GREEN!!!

Indiana @ Rutgers – Noon on BTN. The Knights are trrrrble. The Hoosiers are pretty good, mostly on offense, but there defense should have a good day too. I think the Hoosiers blow them out. Indiana is favored by 14-points but they win by 17 and cover.

#8 Wisconsin @ Northwestern – Noon on ABC. This is the featured Noon game on network TV, so we’re expecting a good game. I think this is a possible trap game for the Badgers, they better be ready as the Wildcats are steady rolling. I think this one might to to OT even. Wisconsin is favored by 7-points but they win by three and do not cover.

Maryland @ #3 Michigan – 3:30pm on ESPN. This also could be a good game if the Terps can step up. I think the Warbaughrines are good but not as good as they are getting credit for. Much like last week, this spread is way to big. Michigan is favored by 31-points but they win by 10 and do not cover.

Purdue @ Minnesota – 3:30pm on BTN. The Boilermakers on the road, not a good thing. The Gophers should have a field day. But because the Gophers always let me down when I expect them to cover, I’m going conservative this time. Minnesota is favored by 17-points but they win by 14 and don’t cover.

Iowa @ #12 Penn State – 7:30pm on BTN. The Hawkeyes just don’t have the mojo that they had last year. The the Lions have been improving each week. Hell, they beat the Buckeyes. And in Happy Valley, that’s worth some points. Penn State is favored by 7.5-points but they win by 13 and cover.

#10 Nebraska @ #6 Ohio State – 8:00pm on ABC. Two top ten teams with identical records playing under the lights in prime time, this could be good. This is the fork in the road for the Buckeyes, they either prove themselves here or they are exposed. I think it’s the former and they get the job done at home, but not with an exclamation point. Ohio State is favored by 17-points but they win by 16 and do not cover.

Everyone plays this week. Good luck to everyone, especially the Spartans and the Terps.

Go B1G!

B1G
